Sign 'O' the Times...

The new signs for my office are finally here.

BEHOLD:

Now if I could somehow make use of the lifesize cutouts of MR T that I brought home from the supermarket I will have the coolest gaff in town. (OK, OK - so MR T might not be 'corporate standard' and therefore completely unusable - but I still 'pity da fool' who doesn't like MR T!)

It Doesn't pay to Blink...

This is a bit mean I know, but I couldn't resist sharing...

Presented for your consideration is a lovely photo of the Outreach Team taken at our Face2Face meeting.
Lovely, that is, except for the visage of a certain team member who's name starts with P and ends with HILIP.

(Click on the image for the full, small-child-frightening effect)

I have suggested that we make greater use of this dog-howlingly unfortunate image thusly:

He is, however, yet to be convinced...

Ahhhh... The Hairyness of Youth...

Someone with obviously terrible taste in music has uploaded a film clip to Youtube of a band I was in 'back in the day.' I like to think that the bulk of my music career was more worthy than this horrible exercise in shouting, but Sue suggested that, much along the same lines as the usual ASC 'match the early photo to the current staff member' game, I might post this as an interesting piece of trivia... Or perhaps as a warning to others of the dangers of a mispent youth, I'm not sure.

Anyway, here it is in all it's ugly glory. If you are going to comment, please be kind and remember that this was made around about 1990.

God I miss my hair. As to why I am wearing rubber gloves - well... It's all about the image baby!

The Govenor and I

This is a photo of myself and local community leaders meeting with the Govenor of Victoria at Government House (absolutely stunning locale!) earlier in the year. I was attending as a representative of EGTAFE at a Gardiner Foundation awards presentation to recognise our work in support of the Yarram Station Youth Group Education Centre. It was a great day, only slightly marred by the fact that I had to wear a suit in 40 degree weather.

Still... T-shirt and shorts would probably not have been appropriate... Not with my legs...

Swifts Creek Wool Classing Success...

Certificate IV in Wool classing Certificate Presentation 2008

With the acknowledged acute shortage of qualified wool classers in the Omeo region early in 2006, eight Swifts Creek Secondary College students and nine adults enrolled in Certificate 11 in Wool Handling; the adults went on to Certificate 111 in Wool Clip Preparation and successfully complete Certificate IV in Wool Classing.

In 2006 adult students travelled to the Landmark Wool Store in Brooklyn, CSIRO Textile and Fibre Technology plant in Belmont and the wool testing authority in Melbourne.

The program attracted significant support from a number local and regional organisation, working together to provide opportunities and to support students throughout their training. (Please look at the notice board)

Local farmers offered significant support by generously allowing students access to local shearing sheds so students could “learn in the workplace”. In doing so the group also had the opportunity to interact with farmers, shearers and other shed workers enabling them to build strong networks within the industry. Also thankyou to Murray Kibble, Manager, Swifts Creek Community Centre.

EG TAFE and students would like to recognize an appreciation to Bob Websdale, tutor/mentor for his determination, patience and support of students enabling them to successfully complete the course.

Congratulations to the seven students who completed the Certificate IV in Wool Classing course. EG TAFE believes this program has been a positive step towards meeting the needs of local farmers and the wool industry to assist in the skills shortage of qualified wool classers.
Students to receive Certificate IV in Wool Classing Certificates are:
Felicity Adams
Wayne Dyer an apology
Deane Holden
Sharon Miles
Jo Rees
Amy (Grace) Rogers
Belinda Smith

Dragon Boat Splash!

Hi folks, thought you might want a laugh! You can see Peter & I'm the one in the white hat. In the last one, Peter H is attempting to search for his glasses but quickly gave up. As you can see, we provided entertainment for the other crews & the surf rescue team.

See ya

Anne
